"Now this was John's testimony when the Jews of Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him who he was. He did not fail to confess, but confessed freely, 'I am not the Christ.'" - John 1 Verse 19 (NIV)
John (the baptist) was a great man. The Bible says, "There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John" - John 1:6 (NIV).
Some people thought that John was the Christ. John could easily have claimed to be and many would have believed and treated him as such. But John had pure motives and chose not to reduce himself to that level. Instead, he confessed freely, "I am not the Christ."
Some people openly claim to be the Christ. We have a problem; but the problem does not emanate from such people.
Our problem emanates from people who by their words claim not to be the Christ, but their actions brazenly claim otherwise. With their actions, such people say, "I am the Christ and you've to treat me accordingly."

Check your words. Check your actions. Nothing about you should suggest, even remotely, that you consider yourself to be the Christ.
