“What I am anxious to see in Christian believers is a beautiful paradox. I want to see in them the joy of finding God while at the same time they are blessedly pursuing Him. I want to see in them the great joy of having God yet always wanting Him.” A. W. Tozer

Sermon #50: Only if we continue in this Christian hope...

"Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without blemish and free from accusation-- if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel." - Colossians 1:21-23 (NIV)

The Word of God. What a Teacher!

Paul says we were once enemies of God, alienated from Him. Then we were reconciled to Him through Christ, glory to God!

The objective of this reconciliation was to "present [us] holy in [God's] sight, without blemish and free from accusation". What a privilege!

Beautiful as it is, this is not the part that caught my attention.

The part that caught my attention says, "...if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel." Praise God!

So Paul is exhorting you to: -
  • Be established and firm in your faith;
  • Continue in your faith; and
  • Never be moved from the hope held out in the gospel.
